River Rafting was limited to higher reaches of himalayas until a few years ago however it is now available at just under 2 hours drive from Pune. Bhira dam located in Kolad releases water everyday for irrigation purposes turning the otherwise placid Kundalika river into a full blown river with rapids ranging from grade 2 to 4 on a grading system of 1 to 6, 6 being effectively unnavigable on a reliably safe basis. River rafting near Pune is possible round the year but for the monsoons.

River Rafting in Dandeli - Karnataka..

River rafting in dandeli is done in the Kali river and covers the entire range of the rough and gentle rapids over 13 kms. of the river. The entire stretch of rafting covering the roughest channels through magnificient forest of the Western Ghats and with some luck you will also see wildlife during this rafting run. Rafting lasts for close to 4 hours.

The River Rafting is organized on Kundalika river. Duration of the rafting experiance is approximately 1.5 hours (depending on the flow of water). The distance covered is approximately 10 km in the water in which rapids of grade ranging from Grade 2 to Grade 4 is negotiated. The start point for rafting is located at Shajey village below the Bhira dam and the reporting time for river rafting is 06:30am.

From Mumbai (135 Kms)

Take the NH 17 (Goa highway) till Kolad. 1 Km after the Kolad market turn left on to the SH 60 to Pune. From here it is 8 Kms to Sutarwadi and another 8 Kms to turn left for Shajey village, our starting point.

From Pune (115 Kms)

Take road to Mulshi dam and drop down the ghats till turn off to Shajey village the starting point of rafting.
