Harnai
A note of caution to start with don't confuse this Murud-Harnai with that Murud-Janjira near Alibag. Though the name is same, they are located at least 100 Kms apart. Located about 11km from Dapoli with a long scenic stretch of a beach with swaying palms and an ancient Durga Devi temple is Harnai's primary attractions. From here Suvarnadurga, kanakdurga and harnai light house and Karde beach is quite close by.
The old Durga Devi temple on the main road, built way back in the 18th century is worth a visit. Murud has a lot of beach resorts amidst the coconut plantations. Delicious, fresh seafood is another reason to visit Harnai. You can also enjoy pure vegetarian, home-made Konkani cuisine at some of the houses nearby. For bird watchers you will probably be able to spot the white bellied sea eagle and white backed vultures.
