Later this idol was deified and instated in a temple in the village.
Revdanda Fort
The ruins of the Revdanda Fort are a reminder of the Portuguese rule in India. A seven-story tower and the fortification walls are what remain of the original fort. There is an ancient chapel within the forts premises from where St. Francis Xavier gave one of his first sermons in India. You can see the Korlai fort at a distance and some lovely views of the sea from Revdanda fort.

Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary about an hour drive from Murud is a great jungle trail and is worth exploring. The main attraction of the Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary is the beautiful Giant Indian Squirrel, but given its shy disposition, catching a glimpse is not an easy prospect.
