Around Guhagar..
If you can bear to leave the shades of the “Suru” trees and the turquoise blue sea behind there is lots to see in and around Guhagar. A temple town, Guhagar has scores of temples, The Vyadeshwar temple 100mts away from the Guhagar ST depot being the most prominent. The 16th century Anjanvel fort or Gopalgad, now in ruins, is 14kms from Guhagar ST depot. Please don’t miss out on the Anjanvel light house, a kilometer from Gopalgad.
Guhagar beach is definitely the star attraction of Guhagar. The first beach in the long stretch of konkan beaches with true white sand Guhagar, has a stretch of beach almost four kilometers long.
There are a few tea stalls and chat stalls amongst suru trees by the beach in Guhagar, there is facility to bathe off the sea water also after a swim in the turqoise blue sea in Guhagar.
Gopalgad
This ancient fort is located near Anjanvel - 11 KM North of Guhagar beach, along the coast line near the Anjanvel Lighthouse. It is believed to be built at the start of 16th Century by the Siddis. It was captured by Shivaji Maharah in 1660. In ruins this fort is worth a visit if you have time. The view of the sea and the rocks from the bastions is quite fascinating.
The Anjanvel light house about 14 kms from Guhagar ST bus stand is a nice place to visit escpecially in the evening. Rebuilt in 1960s this light house is perched upon a steep hillock. Though not very tall (30ft) the view from atop the light house is magnificent.
Just out side the lighthouse there is a small temple - Tolekeshwar Temple.

If you are on a long holiday and want to explore this region you will find many exciting options. Velneshwar and Hedvi, five kilometers from each other, is 26kms from Guhagar. Ferry across the Vashishti river to visit the 3rd century archaeological site of Panhalekaji.
