Around Ganpatipule..

Apart from the beaches in Ganpatipule there are many interesting spots of importance to the tourist. The backwaters of Ganpatipule is worth exploring, MTDC has watersports and boating options also in the backwaters. The beautifully built temples in and around Ganpatipule are worth visiting. With the sightseeing options in and around Ganpatipule, Ganpatipule has all the options to make a funfilled vacation away from the cities.
In Ganpatipule there are secluded beaches right from Jaigad to Ratnagiri seperated from each other only by rocky cliffs. The beaches are largely white sand with slight mix of fine black sand in places. The only beach with shops and shacks near by is the Ganpatipule beach near the Ganpatipule temple. There are a few resorts also located right on the beach slightly away from the Ganpatipule temple. Other prominent beaches are Malgund, Aare-Waare and Ril beach.
Swayambhu Ganapati Temple

The Swayambhu Ganpati Temple, known for its unique Ganapati idol,  is built on the Ganpatipule Beach. The idol of Ganapati here is made out of copper and depicts the God astride a lion. Celebrated as the Paschim Dwardevta the diety is placed in the sanctum sanctorum and at sunrise and sunset a shaft of golden light penetrates and illuminates the idol.
The 17th century Jaigad fort about 15 KMs from Ganapatipule offer some beautiful sea views especially during evenings. Now in ruins Jaigad Fort is a perfect place to have a picnic perched on a cliff overlooking the confluence of River Sangameshwar and the arabian sea. Karhateshwar Devsthan is near the Jaigad Fort. The temple is of wooden structure, built on the slopes of a hill by the side of seashore .
Keshavsut Memmorial is a delight for a person intersted in Marathi literature. The house of the great Marathi Poet Keshavsut is preserved in Malgund as a monument 2 Kms from Ganpatipule. You can visit the room where the great poet was born. Behind this house there is a gallery giving information of all great Marathi Poets and a library with a reading hall with some of the rare books of the poet.

Ratnagiri (26 Kms)

The drive from Ganpatipule to Ratnagiri by the sea through Bhandarpule Aare and Waare is one of the most beautiful drives that you can undertake in the entire Konkan coast. Ratnagiri the port city famous for its alphonso mangoes also has many a tourist delights
