Panhalekaji
Discovered in 1970 Panhalekaji is a complex of 28 - 29 caves filled with exquisite art value wrt architecture and quality of craftmanship. These budhist caves have a few inscriptions in Brahmi and Devanagari and also remnants of statues from 3 AD. Panhalekaji is about 35 Kms from Dapoli and the drive will take just over hour from Dapoli but well worth it!
Built in 1150 and later renovated during 1768 to 1780 this ganesh temple atop a hill invokes deep relegious fervour amongst its devotees.
"Ujwya Sondecha Ganpati" the Ganesh idol is a rarity with its trunk turned towards its right side. At a vantage point this temple is a tourist delight offering panoramic view of the surroundings.
Unhavare - Sulphur Hotsprings
Located in the valley on the bank of a small river Unhavare is definitely worth a visit if you are on a long vacation in Dapoli. The boiling spring water bubbles up into a series of three rock pools. The hot spring water is clear with just a faint smell and taste of sulphur.
Kadyavarcha Ganapati - Anjarle..
Located about a quarter of a mile off the coast from Harnai port is the fascinating Suvarnadurg Fort
A rocky island, Suvarnadurg is about 8 acres big with stone wall bastions. The sea-gate depicts carved figures of a tiger, eagle and elephants and fifteen old guns have also been located in the fort. Suvarnadurg is cetainly a must visit during your Dapoli vacation
