Akshi - Romance on the Waves..

Colaba Fort
Colaba a sea fort less than a kilometer from the shores of Alibaug can be only accessed during low tide through a narrow strip of land which goes underwater during high tide. Within the fort you can see a few cannons in the 17 bastions and the 'Mahadarwaja'. The Archaeological survey of India charges a nominal token entry fee for the visit. Fort is open during all through the year.
Akshi is a beach very close to the Alibaug bus depot. Approximately 7 Kms away Akshi beach is located just before the Nagaon beach. On the way to Nagaon about 2kms before Nagaon a right turn at a small junction of village roads would take you to the pristine Akshi beach. If you are traveling by ferry you would have to find another mode of transport to reach Akshi from Alibaug bus depot.

Akshi beach is well known for its white sand, clean waters and abundance of Suru trees. A number of birds inhabit the green surroundings near Akshi Beach and it is a bird-watcher’s delight. The vast stretch of Akshi beach would also be almost always covered in waders and great knots.
